Entec ODE

New is this problem with my the output from my Entec ODE to artnet:
In Dlight 3.16 all is well, but only after I made an extra click on unicast/broadcast to change it once to broadcast.
In Dlight 3.20 this button is not there anymore and the entec doesn't work. It is perfectly recognized. The server starts without problems. But nothing happens.
In fi. MAX.MSP all functions well.
I (how stupid could I be) am on Mavericks on a Macbook Pro.

Any hints?

Does your computer and the node are on the same ip range, with the same net mask?

The computers ethernet port is on 10.0.1.56. (subnetmask is automatically given as 255.0.0.0)
The Entec ODE is on 10.0.1.81.
And as said, all is well in 3.16 after the extra clicks.

did you set the node as available after the ArtPoll discover (and before activating the server)?

Yes, on 3.16 I did mark the available box and even selected the device by clicking and highlighting it. Then I start the server. After a few seconds it says it is running. But no output. Then I click to unicast and back to broadcast, then the output starts to go.
On 3.20 there is no unicast/broadcast box. Could that be the problem? I think I remember that the entec ODE only functions in broadcast mode. Is 3.20 also in broadcast mode?
Even in the NMU app (the Entec-app for controlling the ODE) it is sometimes necessary to switch the output on, off again and on again before the device actually works. (This with the test option from within the app.) With the MAX external everything is without problems.

So maybe other ODE users can tell there experience, or you can think of something?

Strange problem… I owned the ODE and to not need the unicast/broadcast click to have an output. I just downloaded the 3.0.20, I'll test it tomorrow so let you know after if all is OK for me.

(Do you use a router or connect it directly on your laptop?)

(I'm still on Montain lion thought, maybe it's a Maverick-only issue…)

No router, direct connection. Curious what happens with your device. Thanks for the try.
(Unfortunately it is merely impossible to downgrade from Mavericks. I just was to soon this time. Tricked into it...)

so....
first test with enttec ODE and Mac OS 10.9 (Maverick, wich I install because I'm obliged otherwise I would keep the 10.8 OS...)

ODE = 10.0.0.23
MAC = 10.0.0.77
subNet Mask for both 255.0.0.0

everything is fine here....
I've launched the broadcast ArtPoll to find the node, once recognized, I've set it to available, then I've launched the server and test with a PAR Led.
connection is direct.

no doubt you did the same....
except the IP, I do not remember if I've done something particular with the ODE.
so I don't think it's a problem with :Light as the used computer has nothing special.

I agree with the conclusion that it has to be something specific at my side then (hardware, software, firmware...?).
But I have to get the thing running on 3.20. But at least I know a lot more now about where to look.

apparently not on the Mac side as you've specified the IP you've set wich seems good,
not the DL side wich I've verified,
so it must be on the ODE side....

another point that may be relevant:
the cable between the computer and the node is straight, not a cross cable.

I changed the IP address to 10.0.0.81 and the ethernetIP too to 10.0.0.56. And then it worked. With the same cable and everything.
But other software for fi. iPad doesn't find the ODE. So it is not really good. But it works in :light. Fine!

If it works with this cable then changing to another probably doesn't help, would it?

wich ethernet address did you changed?
if u use cable, you should only operate on the ethernet wired address (and switch off the wifi).

I don't understand the thing with the ipad... DL is not designed to run on ipad...
wich other software did you tried?

at least I'm glad it worked with DL.

I changed the ODE adress to 10.0.0.?. And I did put the computers ethernetconnection to 10.0.0.?.
What i did mean about the ipad is that I tried to get a connection from some specifis ipad programs that send artnet though wifi. Besides that I use the ipad with TouchOsc to control d::light. Great that you did build in the OSC options!
