Automatically open file

Automatically open file was created by Wilf
For a non light computer user I want Dlight to start and automatically open the right file. I am using Dlight 3.0.24 on a Mac with OSX 10.9.5 (not my machine but the machine that will be used). Dlight is in the startup items so it starts at login. Then you have to type the password (Enttec's fault) and then I'd like for Dlight to open the file. How can I do this, does AppleScript work within X11 (not that I used AppleScript before)?

I am NOT on mac, but it should be similar from a terminal point of view:

Try to launch DLight from the terminal, using either /path/to/DLight or DLight followed by /path/to/sho/file

(for me here it would look like /home/jph/bin/DLight/DLight_your_version_here /home/jph/project/project.sho).

If what happens pleases you, then that command line is a good candidate to include in a script, script that would then be added to your startup items instead of simply DLight.

Then, I just trained purely non-tech people on a ubuntu laptop to open up the show's .sho file themselves from the "recent" menu, and to save everytime as the name of the day's city/town they are playing in, and I swear they only called me twice since then :P

Please notice that I don't think D::Light itself can autostart anything - DL would have started, with the appropriate show loaded, but idle and awaiting further input. As the developer recommended version is Beta4, if you intend on having this device jump into action using OSC or midi, I advise you to switch to the appropriate Beta4 version for this machine.

@Wilf,
hello,
as JP said you can tell DL to open a show at startup as long as you provide the right path of the .sho file as an argument to a command line.

automator should be able to do that
