hello,

@klm,

I've been trying to use a personality file to send data to a LED par.

When I patch it regularly (ch 1 to dim 300, ch 2 to dim 301 et cetera) everything works.

Now I made a personality file:

offset: 1, attr: intensity, home: 0, parameter: master dimmer, min: 0, max: 0;
offset: 2, attr: colout, home: 0, parameter: red, min: 0, max: 0;
(et cetera)

Now if I add this personality and set channel to 300, it does not work. I set ch 300 @ FF (is intensity) and change colour palette. Nothing.

What am I doing wrong? I have no previous experience with Dlight and personality files. I cannot find what I'm doing wrong in the Wiki.

@Wilf,
Hi

first for the personality file:
you want to set min= 0, max = 255

after with the 'Device Listing' window, you need to import your personality file AND SET A CHANNEL
the channel you'll set will be use after to operate on your device (once you have set a channel for the device, in the main window you'll see a special flag for this channel)

after you need to patch it from the PATCH window.
the easiest way is with the Drag n' Drop facilities, you drag the Device's channel to the dimmer screen and drop when you're happy.
IF the device's personality does not contain an Intensity parameter (ADB Warp for example), you can add a dimmer (but only one) that will control intensity.
you do that like a usual dimmer.

in the main window now:
if you have set channel 1 to control your Device (patched from 300 to 310 for example), you'll operate on channel 1 (not channel 300 to 310...)
select channel 1 and use functions Colour, Focus, Blade, Beam, etc.... to interact with your Device.
all Attribute/Parameter defined in the personality will be reachable.

after you'll want to record 'Palette' to easily control your device.
you can set some Filters that will reduce the numbers of parameters recorded within the Palette.

when you have adjust and set palette for your Device, if the Intensity have a Level and you record a cue, DL will add DLink(s) to the step where the cue is loaded.
it's LTP system, it means that the Device will stay to his state until you modify his state.

Hi Nico,

I am testing Devices with b39 on 10.10.3.
For this purpose I've created the personality for Martin 250 Entour (Standard 15ch) which is included in library of Capture Argo Student.
And It works.
I'm new with Devices but it's seems quite handy. (except for some crash doing weird stuff)

Few Questions:

- To create a Dlink, Intensity has to have value > 0; So if I need to move machine on black I need to record cue with light, then to modify intensity and save again. Is there another way I don't know?
- I know you're still working on MIDI. Are you also adding MIDI command to activate Palettes? It will be very useful for impro shows.
- Imagine I have 2 equal device set with different DMX address. Is it possible to control them with same channel? I didn't succeed in it.
- Really great the possibility to save Palette in Dlink. In this way if I modify Palette I will see changes all over the sequence. Really useful for refocusing devices in a tour show. Awesome.

I attach personality file to let anyone play with it.

Thanks a lot,

Carlo.

Hello,

first of all, I apologize for my english !

- To create a Dlink, Intensity has to have value > 0; So if I need to move machine on black I need to record cue with light, then to modify intensity and save again. Is there another way I don't know

When Intensity are @ 0 on a device, D/L change all the palette of this device to next step where Intensity will be up. So you don't have to make your tips, D/L make's it alone.

- Imagine I have 2 equal device set with different DMX address. Is it possible to control them with same channel? I didn't succeed in it.

If you want to control with the same channel, why do you not put the same address ?

- Really great the possibility to save Palette in Dlink. In this way if I modify Palette I will see changes all over the sequence. Really useful for refocusing devices in a tour show. Awesome.

I agree with that ! Palette are a very useful tool !!!

I attach personality file to let anyone play with it.

You can pull your device here . Everybody can get it in the future ;)
Explain for pull device was here (in french...) but if you know github, you can found easilly

Bye !

Salut Totoine,

I've done that and still no success.

I've tried to make a personality file for the Expolite TourLED Pro 28 Zoom. To make it easier I first made one with the simple personality of the device (AR2.D) which includes master dimmer, R, G, B, W. When using it conventional, it responds. Not so when I make it in a device.

In a test show I gave the device channel 50 and patched it to dimmer 15 (and so on). When I set ch 50 @ F and then add colors nothing happens.

Ok, when testing dimmer 15 in the patch and then changing the colours it does work. So it must be something with(in) the intensity channel that does not work as it should. The colour chart is not perfect since it does not take white into account but it does work and close enough, which makes me happy. So what did I do wrong with the master dimmer on the first channel in my personality file...? I can see no strange things...?

[edit]

After switching around with devices it suddenly started working completely (also the dimmer channel, and its colours). When opening a new file and trying it again everything again stops working, also the dimmer testing. Quite confused now.

[edit 2] 4.0.b39 crashes when I adjust color values when I try to test with the personality file without master dimmer (only 4 channels/dimmers).

Hello !

In your device, your parameter of intensity would be DIMMER instead of MASTER DIMMER.
I've try to modify them directly on devices listing and it doesn't work better. But I've edit it on Personnality Editor, save as a new name and try again, and INTENSITY works.

TO patch your device, you have to specify your channel on Device listing, and next patch the DMX address on D-Patch colon on Patch window.

Hi,
Antoine is right, you need to set DIMMER as INTENSITY parameter in order to work.
attached the Device's personality modified.

That did the trick - I didn't though the Parameter value was of such importance name-wise (I took over the personality name of the manufacturer).

Thanks Antoine et Nico!
