Right way to use groups ?

I mean, if I set all the values to '1', then use the group in a cue and put the channels values to FF in the cue, what will be the fina l values ? Is FF = 100% of 1 ?
And as a side question : is there a way to select multiples channels in the sequence or in a cue (make them yellow), without using groups ?
Thanks

I doubt that. But I don't understand the way you want to use groups. If you put a group in a sub master with 1 value for all channels, then yes, when you'll recall the submaster at FF , the channels level will be 1
is there a way to select multiples channels in the sequence or in a cue (make them yellow), without using groups ?
You can select multiple channels by typing regulars @mode commands like Channel 1 Thru 5 then Enter(C1>5Enter), or Channel 1 + 2 then Enter(C1+2Enter), or ALL > Enter(AEnter)
ALL will select all actives channels. Check the menu Display > Shortcuts
Then you can change the level with both left and right arrow key.

What I've done with groups was :
- creating a group (eg. 8 scene backlights)
- creating a cue, and when editing the cue, load the group to avoid rolling all the 8 values with the mouse
I'm just trying to find a simple solution to change all the backlights quickly without having to select (with the mouse, or with expressions as in your example (didn't know it was possible this way))
To be more precise :
I need to adapt the show (a theater show) depending of the light gears available in the place we play. We can have 5/6 lights in very small venues to 20 in bigger and better equipped places.
- I thought I could have my main sequence remaining the same (30/40 differents step, corresponding to the 30/40 differents light states, and only 10 cues)
- Then only modify the cues to adapt them to the gears available in the place we play
- So, for bigger venues, I wanted a solution to edit the cues without having to adjust each channel individually and I thought that groups were the solution (and it works, because I can load them in cue editing and edit the cue faster)
But I don't know if it's the simplest way to fulfill my needs
