How to make all lights flash ?

What is the best and simplest solution to achieve this effect ? Do I need to make an 'FX' ? I would to avoid programming successive steps in the main dlight window (sorry I'm new to dlight and don't know how to describe it correctly)
Thanks

Yes, the best way is to create an FX - in the FX window you program each step, then you can attach your FX to a submaster. You can also have a second submaster as the speed regulator for your FX sub, and you can even link to your FX submaster in the main cue list
Hope this helps

fast to program as you start the recording, you manually 'play' the storm, and stop the recording.
once you're satisfied you load it in a submaster to playback

But in the sequence, using the shortcut 'm' does nothing - I tried 1m (to load the fx number 1), nothing happen
Seems that I did not found how fx works
You talk about submasters - What are they ? How to use them ?
Thanks !

Submasters are bellow the output channel display. You'll see a small "Sub" label, and 10 different subs by pages. If you clic on a number, you can edit the sub.
Clic on a number. You'll see the Submaster editor. You can either create a new group or load a Cue, Group, Speed, FX or Sample. You need to clic on the drawer icon to load new stock. Choose FX and select your FX 1
It's loaded!
Now you can recall it in a step of the sequence using the MLink. Clic on the MLink * to open the Master Link Editor. Add a new MLink (+). Connect the submaster (type the number of the submaster and clic on the sub section).
Now the FX will start with this step.
To remove the FX, use a MLink in the next step with the same submasters but change the "Target" from "FF" to "0"
By the way, if you need to flash all the light, you can also use the blackout.

I'll give it a try, but seems very complicated to me - Maybe the blackout solution is simpler. I plan to use a remote MIDI controller to control the GO (Novation launchpad), it works pretty well and I saw in the MIDI setup that I can assign BLACK out to a MIDI note. If it's a toggle (one note -> BLACKOUT, same note -> LIGHTS ON) this could be very easy

Just another questions :
1) how do I "cut/paste" a step in the sequence ?
eg.
step 1 - cue 1 - "scene 1"
step 2 - cue 3 - "sarah collapse"
step 3 - cue 2 - "thieves arrive"
How can I move step 3 before step 2 ?
2) how to create a new step at the end of the sequence
Each time I just 'I' keystroke it's been inserted before the actual step which is something confusing
Is there any command to insert AFTER the step ?
Thanks !

how do I "cut/paste" a step in the sequence ?
you can Load any cue in any step. BUT you should definitely always keep the cues in a numerical order. it's a common beginner mistake to put a cue number 2 after a cue number 3, cause DLight can add automatically numbers to the cue and keep cue in order but this setting won't work if you mess the numerical order.
eg. brand new show
I'm in step 1, I put channel 4 level FF - by simply typing "R" then Enter, DLight will create the cue number 1 and load it in the step number 1
I'm now in step 2, I put chanel 5 level FF - etc etc
if you need to recall the same level/channel you can create a group and then an other cue. you can name cue this way : 2 - 2.1 - 2.15 ...
you can Insert a new step between two steps. check the COM section. check the manual/wiki
I don't think that you can move a step. but you can drag the text from a step to another.
how to create a new step at the end of the sequence
simply by recording a new cue in the step. Be careful of the numerical order of cues number...

But... How do you name the cues ? Eg. You just created the step 2, then entered R to record the cue - But Dlight tells me that the cue 2 will be created... How to tell the software to name this new cue 1.1
When I create all cues from the cue window (which seems more logical to me, than creating them on the fly from the main window) I don't know how to give it the 'name' (number) I want

How do you name the cues ?
then you must type "R q 1.1" = record cue 1.1
DLight will put it automatically between cue 1 and cue 2, if you have the option "Auto Load Cue In Sequence" enable in the Setup menu, which is by default.
then you can delete the old cue.
I don't think that you can "rename" or change the number of a cue. you have to record it with an other number and delete it.
But you can actually add a real name to a cue (text) in the Cue Listing Window. Simply select the cue, type the text and then enter.
Adding text to a step is also very practical. You'll see it in the sequence. It's very useful. To do so, double clic on the red star (or the green one, or the white one) on type your text.

To create a cue with any number, you type (in @mode) eg
[record] [cue] 3.14 [enter]
You can then load that (or *any*) cue into *any* step using [LOAD]
To name a cue, open the 'Cue' window, and use the up/down arrows to hilight (yellow background) the cue number you want. It will have an asterisk (*) in it - click the blue text box top right, type your text in there and then [enter], and you cue is named. To put a description or name to the STEP, open the 'Sequence' window - you see all your steps, with associated cues, and again an asterisk on the right. Click the asterisk for the step and a text entry box will open - type your description there. Or - put the red 'box' in the main cue window on the step you want and type your shortcut for [TEXT] and the text entry box should popup for that step

In the CUE window, clicking the 'add cue' icon can only increment from the last highest cue you recorded *and* it keeps any decimal part in the increment - so eg if your highest cue number was 98.1, the 'add cue' icon will add cue 99.1 - if it was 98, then it will add 99
Because of this, recording cues is probably better done from the main window...
(Bug there Nico...? )

I understand now why I couldn't name my cues !
1) Not possible from the cue window
2) Need to use the @mode
And I figured out how to create a new step : INSERT STEP # with # being last step + 1

HI,
good catch, I think too that it's a bug....In the CUE window, clicking the 'add cue' icon can only increment from the last highest cue you recorded *and* it keeps any decimal part in the increment - so eg if your highest cue number was 98.1, the 'add cue' icon will add cue 99.1 - if it was 98, then it will add 99
will try to fix it for the upcomming 3.x release, but definitely for the 4.x serie
thanx,
