Fx in step? was created by p.leijstra
Hi, can anyone help me how to activate an effect on a step?

I already have an effect applied to the submaster. I presses Rlink in the step and I see it at Rlink (target FF) but it does not seem to play when the step is active.

How do I start the effect?

Thnx in advance!

MLink is the way to launch FX within a step.
recording MLink with the RLink (RecordLink) is a good thing.

MLink are processed with the GO command.
thus if you have in X2 a step loaded with MLink associated, the next time you press GO, MLink will be triggered.

ps: you'll be able very soon to write all these missing part in the Wiki ;)

Ok, but then it wil only play as long as the fade-in time lasts? How can I play the FX untill I go to the next step?

Mlink are independent of the times registered within the steps, you can for example set a time for a mlink of 20 minutes and have time for a step set to 1 second.
the step will xfade in 1 second and the Linked submaster will fade In(or Out) in 20 minutes.
after that the submaster is opened and you need to set another MLink if you want to close it.

How can I play the FX untill I go to the next step?

on the next step, you set another MLink to close the submaster that contain the FX.

Ok, so on the next step you repeat the mlink, but set the level to 0 in stead of FF?

I'm do not see my Fx playing (I do'nt see the values of the channels changing when I press go) The fx only plays when I set the sub to FF manualy, or is this normal that I don't see it?

Thanks allot!

I do not see any MLink in the sho you've posted...
in the MLink editor, don't forget to click on 'Valid' to save MLinks (or use the 'Modify' shortcut)

indeed, your sub isn't fired...
looks like you've found a bug.

I'm working on Colin's one, and after I'll fix yours.
and after it will be time for a next beta...

Great, finaly I contributed (in a way ;))

Is it also possible (maybe in a beta-beta-version) to use the Enttec Pro with the original driver? This because I use the enttec in other software as well. (or would this be very difficult?) In that case the installing of the liusbx driver is also not necessary..

Piet,
in the setup, when 'Inhib MLink' is active, that means that MLink won't be processed.
idem for 'Inhib Wait Times'

these options are usefull when you want to check particular feature of the sequence without being polluted by subs or whatever.
so unselect the options and you'll see that the sub is fired

Is it also possible (maybe in a beta-beta-version) to use the Enttec Pro with the original driver?

on MacOS you can by selecting /dev/usb-serial as 'modus operandi'
BUT, FTDI drivers have a limited size buffer of 1K and in the case of several univers, it leads to error.
so always use libusbx as 'modus operandi' as this lib is chunking memory.

Ah right! Indeed, when I uncheck the inhib it does work!

I's using the FTDI driver also possible on windows? For now I only use 30 dmx channels, so no real problem with that I suppose ;)

Again great help!
